The Revista Brasileira de Cancerologia (RBC) is a quarterly journal of the National Cancer Institute (INCA), which is open access and free of charge. In 2018, it adopted social media as a tool for disseminating scientific knowledge and began using the Open Journal System (OJS). In this study, data generated from OJS reports were utilized. In the last five years, RBC received 2,513 articles, of which 497 were accepted, approximately 20% approved and an 80% rejection rate. The number of accesses to RBC articles showed an maximum approximate increase of 21 times, from 01/2020 to 10/2023. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of an online system and promotion through social media have favored the positive evolution of RBC.
